Christian influence on friends and family
Focus and Purpose for life
If you find that you have drifted away here is how you can come back to God.
Reflect
Think about when you first got saved – the spiritual goals and promises that you made.
Revelation 2:5 states “Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lamp stand from its place.” (NIV)
Repent
You should feel regret and sorrow for drifting away from God. Revelation 2:5
Confess to God that you have drifted away from Him and ask Him to forgive you. Discuss your desire of mending your relationship.
1 John 1:9 states “If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (NIV)
2 Chronicles 7:14 says: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (NIV)
John 15:14 (NIV) says: “You are my friends if you do what I command.”
John 14:21 (NIV) says: "Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."
You can Pray this Prayer or a Prayer of confession and recommitment:
“Dear God, I miss you in my life. I confess that I have drifted away and I’m sorry I let it happen. I ask for your forgiveness. I renew my love and commitment to you. Thank you for calling me back. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.”
Congratulations on your decision!
